Getting Career Advice

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

It is not necessarily the most likely place for you to go to find some career advice.  Many online job websites do employ individuals from all types of backgrounds to provide you with the help that you need to secure the job that you are after.  If you are not sure about the benefits these services can offer, know that many people have improved their outlook and resume and therefore have found the job positions that they have been looking for.  In many ways, career advice coupled with professional services offered there, can help you to secure the position that you have been looking for.

Quality Counts

The first thing that you should consider about the services offered through online employment websites is their quality.  Although there are many excellent websites that provide the highest quality services to you, there are those that are not worth the time looking into.  How will you know the quality of their services?  If the service is under priced, it is likely to be under quality.  If the service provides just basic information, it may not be worth it.  If you do a web search for information about them and find poor reviews, then it is likely not to be the best site for you to work with.

But, Others Really Work

There are some websites that provide excellent resources to you.  You can tap into what they have to offer easily too. Some even provide these services without any cost.  So, what can be found?

•    They can take a look at your resume and find ways to improve it and make it more effective.
•    They can help you to determine if you need additional education to qualify for a program.
•    They can help you to hone your job search skills to help you to find the right opportunity.
•    They can provide career services geared towards where you should go or what employment you should consider based on your skills.

All of these things are possible when it comes to online job searching.  If you decide that today is the day that you will find a new job, consider finding out what services are available to you to use to make that a profitable search.  With some career advice, you may be able to make a new employment opportunity really count.

Head Hunter Services

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Online job websites often offer a variety of services.  One of those services is likely to be that of a head hunting service, although they may not call it that.  Many of the postings that you find online are those posted by these companies as well.  Is this is a good thing or could it lead to trouble for you?  There are several different types of services out there and you need to do your homework to actually learn if in fact a head hunter is the right thing for you.  It is even more important to learn what type of service they are providing first.

What Are They?

A head hunting service can work from both ends.

•    The individual is hired by a company (usually several companies) and is sent out to find qualified candidates for the positions within these companies.  Some companies that employ many people or that will be growing rapidly will do this to help them to keep applicants coming in to fill their positions.
•    The individual works for you, the job applicant.  In this case, you should really consider what their service actually is.  There are some individual that will do all that they can to help you to find a position that you are qualified for but they do charge a service fee.  That fee ranges greatly but usually is dependant on the annual salary that you are going to get.

Should You Use Them?

Those that use these services can benefit from them.  To do that, you should know as much as you can about them.  Do not sign any paperwork unless you have read through it carefully and know exactly what they are offering to you and the benefits that it offers you.  If you sign on to work with a head hunter, realize that there may be a cost to you.

One thing that you should note is the fact that both of these types of services using online job sites to find applicants.  If you reply to their ad, you still have the right to know what they are up to.  Do not get trapped into something that you do not want to do either.  Take the time to understand who they are and what they offer.  This will offer you a bit of protection.

By all means, if you decide to work with them, get the information you need.  In many cases, they can help you to find the employment that you need.  Working with them coupled with searching on online job websites can be the best way to find your next employment benefit.

How Many Should You Use?

Monday, December 8th, 2008

When it comes to online job sites, there are a number of excellent opportunities out there for the individual to find the job employment that he is after.  With so many various websites dedicated to providing job postings, though, it can be somewhat overwhelming to find all of the opportunities that you may qualify for.  You really do not know where your best shot is, either.  Do employers post on several sites or just on one?

Determine Your Plan

Online job sites complete with each other.  Their goal is to have as many possible openings for your needs.  The more jobs that they can post, the more individuals they can lure to the website.  This may be the very best way for you to find your next job, but wading through all of these websites may be time consuming.  Most that are searching for a job do not have a huge amount of time to do that. In addition, most employers will decide if they will pick up one or several online job sites depending on things like their past experience, the need that they have and what contacts they may have set up.  In other words, there is not a way to know where they will post their opportunities.  What do you do then?

To help you, consider these tips about using online job sites.

1.    Determine which job sites offer postings in your employment field.  It will take some time to find all of the sites available, but once you do, you can start getting rid of those off your list that do not offer jobs in your field.
2.    Next, look at just how many postings they have.  If they have only one or two for your field, you may be able to find those same postings on other sites, with many more job offerings as well.  If the number is minimal, cross off the site.
3.    Use your internet service to help you to set up favorites listing of all the sites that you have found that are potentially hot spots for your industry.  Visit them easily with one click, then.

Finally, when using online job sites; take full advantages of the services that they offer.  This may include such things as resume services and one click sending off your resume services.  These are helpful tools to make your job search a bit easier than it seems to be.
