The increases in number of data entry workers are credited largely to the Internet. The World Wide Web has created vast opportunities for many individuals, including professionals, to stay at home and work at the same time.

One of the main reasons attributed for the increase in number of data entry home workers is the actual decline of full time office based data entry people. This has lead hundreds, if not thousands of employers, to subcontract out work to workers who prefer to work at home.

Another reason why work at home jobs are popular is because most of these are not very technical and does not require extensive training. Some companies don’t even require their work at home workers to be college degree holders.

Another factor that has lead to the increase in number of data entry home workers is that employers actually get more advantage to it than hiring full time data entry worker. Careers – The Choice Of A Lifetime

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Wheeee! Schools out and now it’s time for surging ahead in a career! But which career? How does one match their fantasies and ambitions with the realities of today’s world? How can one even narrow down their own cherished dreams into one logical line of action?

Another group of people looking for the right career are those who are already employed and dread going to work each day. They truly need to find a spot where the thought of going to work fills them with delight. Life is too short to allow oneself to be trapped doing work that isn’t meaningful or fulfilling.

We’ve come a long way when it comes to determining which career we want to spend our lives in. Until the last few decades, and still in some countries, a person followed in the footsteps of their parents. If daddy were a lawyer, there was no question about the son also being a lawyer.

If daddy were a carpenter, the son was also a carpenter, and he trained at his father’s footsteps from the time he could walk and understand.

In some cultures today this tradition has a real value. In India, where the chanting of volume-long books is done by memory, only by being exposed to the sounds from an early age could one become a true master. These masters are called Vedic Pundits. Other religions also have this tradition.

Experts who act as career counselors often use a battery of tests to help someone fit into one of approximately 25 major industries. However, what one does within an industry is more important than which type of industry it is.

Many tests have been devised that indicate whether it is your basic nature at this time of your life to be a leader or a follower, whether you are very artistic and creative or whether you want to follow someone else’s designs, whether you are exceptionally good at detail work or whether precision just isn’t your thing. These tests are well worth taking and then considering the results.

However, these results should not be taken as written in stone and being unchangeable. While education reflects that one has been exposed to knowledge and experiences that not everyone else has had, it also indicates that a person has possibly endured some very boring lectures and learned how to beat the system in order to get good grades and a diploma.

What many employers want these days is experience – experience of any kind that shows initiative and thinking and survival skills. If you don’t have a college degree or two, don’t despair. You may be better off in finding your true career.

One inexpensive way to determine which type of career might be most fulfilling for you is to make a list of at least twenty-five people that you know. Then write out a paragraph for each one that states what type of work and which kind of company you feel that person is best suited for. Set these aside for a day, then go back and find the common qualities that are in each one.

You just might be amazed at the similarities. Because psychologists say that what we see in others is only a reflection of ourselves, and what we think others should do is really more true for our own actions, you will possibly find a very accurate description of your ideal career and how to obtain it.

Career Options

Friday, May 14th, 2010

It would seem as though the most appropriate time for a young person to consider career options is when they are embarking on the journey of choosing a college to attend.

For some their career options are something they have been considering for the better part of high school. They may have taken several high school level courses that will work well towards their goal of achieving admission in a certain school. Many young people don’t consider many career options because they have a very clear idea of their lives’ path before they even enter high school.

For others career options are something they are still struggling with even as they begin the college experience. They have an idea of what interests them but trying to decide on a specific major is a daunting task. Many of these young people will explore several different career options before deciding on something that really has grabbed their interest.

Before entering college many schools have services available to the students that help them with career options. This can be in the form of a career fair where different career paths are detailed. Adults may come in to talk about their chosen career options and where those have led them. This can be a wonderful way for younger people to become familiar with the education requirements and commitment necessary to pursue a particular career choice.

It’s very important for young people to be aware of all of the potential career options available to them. Many schools have guidance counselors on staff who can discuss with the child their particular aspirations. The counselor also has knowledge of the admission requirements for different studies and can advise the child on what they will need to study in high school to better their chances while in college.

Considering career options is not just for the younger set. Many established workers consider a career change at some point in their life.

Their occupation might be slowing becoming obsolete of they are losing interest in the thing they were once very passionate about. Reaching a point where you begin to think about other career options can be the turning point in one’s life.

Many universities and colleges offer evening courses for students who are employed during the day. If you are considering other career options it’s good to know that if you do require schooling that you’ll have the chance to pursue that while still earning a living.

Life is remarkably less stressful if you have a job that you enjoy. Carefully considering the career options that are most appealing to you is the first step to ensuring you’ll go to work each day enjoying the experience.

It’s never too late to consider a new career path. There are career counselors available who work with adults to develop a goal that is attainable for them. It’s rewarding when you discover a new life passion and work hard to achieve that goal. Many people in their 40s, 50s and even older are heading back to school because they’ve decided the career options they’ve already achieved just aren’t enough.

A Plan Of Action

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

You have finally made the decision that it is time to make some changes in your life.  You know that the only way things are going to get better for you financially, spiritually and physically is if you sit up and take action.  You know you have to put forth the effort in order to reap the rewards.

So how exactly are you going to implement these changes?  You are going to have a “plan of action”.

A plan of action is crucial to your success.  Without a plan it is merely a thought.  When you add your thoughts to paper coupled with a desire to see them become realities and proceed to do everything possible to fulfill that desire you have a template for success.

A simple equation to use when creating a plan of action from your template is:  Desire + Effort = Results.

Your first step is to write down what exactly it is you desire.  Albeit wealth, personal development or whatever you so strongly yearn for that you simply can no longer go without, write it down.  Make your desires realistic.  For example, if your desire is to lose 20 pounds, it is unrealistic to believe you can lose 20 pounds in 3 days.   However, it is possible to lose 20 pounds in 3 months with a proper plan of action.  It is important to note that there should be a time frame with regards to your plan.  These time frames are the milestones to marking your achievements.

Now that you know what your specific desire is, list the ways in which you plan on achieving optimum results.  How do I plan to lose these 20 pounds?  What do I have to do each day in order to achieve my goal?  What do I personally need to do to see this plan come to fruition?

Set up a schedule outlining each step that needs to be taken daily to achieve weekly goals.  Be specific.  Create a daily “to do” list.  At the end of the week you will be able to see how much you were able to accomplish.  Congratulate yourself for each accomplishment.

Make a commitment to yourself to “Work the Plan”.  Stay focused on the positive.  List all the reasons why you will be able to achieve your objective. Utilize the strengths you possess that will help you to complete your plan.

Know your weaknesses and make a concerted effort to overcome them.  Incorporate both your strengths and weakness into your plan of action.  Know what you are capable of and know what your shortcomings are.

Have your own personal reward system in place.  Know what each reward will be for each accomplishment that you have fulfilled throughout your plan.  With every desired result you achieve there should be a reward for having done so.  An incentive plan customized to your wants.

Do not let yourself get disheartened.  If you have a temporary lapse or deviation from the plan acknowledge it and continue to move forward with your plan.  Keep the pedal to the metal or your nose to the grindstone, just keep on taking action.  Remember, this is not a race to the finish line.  Your plan is your future.  Take the time to nurture and understand it.

We’ve all heard the adage “Rome was not built in a day”.  Your success regarding your plan of action will not be achieved in one day either.  Success is a process and the process is something you have a long-term plan for.

“You and only you can determine if the reward is worth the price you are paying for it in effort”.
